Our little shop is in Surya Mahal, right across from Hotel Paratha Mantra. It’s a bit of a tucked-away spot on Bharucha Marg in the Fort area. Kolben Compressor Spares India Pvt. Ltd. has been here for a good while. Being in Fort means we’re surrounded by old buildings and a lot of history. Shop number 4 isn't huge, but it's packed with all kinds of compressor spares. If you need a specific part, we probably have it buried somewhere in here. The streets outside are narrow and always full of people and delivery bikes. It can get pretty cramped, but we've gotten used to it over the years. We spend most of our time answering phones and looking through catalogs for specific part numbers. It's the kind of work that requires a lot of patience. Most of the guys here know exactly which drawer a certain valve or seal is in without even looking. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just have our regular customers who come by when something breaks down. It’s a local business through and through. We like being in this part of town, even if the parking is a nightmare. It feels like we are part of the old city. We just keep things moving, one spare part at a time, every single day. The routine keeps us going. We know the machines and we know the parts, and that is usually enough.
