Being at Phule Market, specifically in the 414 to 418 stalls, means we are right in the thick of it every single day. If you know the M.J. Phule Market, you know it’s a historic place but it is also very crowded and noisy. We spend our time balancing books and talking to people who come in for wholesale deals. The walls are high and the ceilings are old, and we have folders stacked up almost to the top. It is not the kind of place where you find modern furniture or glass walls. We use old wooden desks that have been here for decades. My father used to say the market never sleeps, and he was mostly right. We get here early before the sun is even fully up to start sorting through things. Sometimes we lose track of time because there are no windows to the outside world, just the light from the corridor and the sound of handcarts clicking on the floor. We aren't a big corporation or anything. We are just a small team of about five people who know how to handle the goods. We don’t have a website that works well, and we mostly use a physical ledger for the important stuff. It is just the way we like to work. People know where to find us if they need something, and that is usually enough to keep us going through the year.
