You can find us over in Khar East. It’s a straightforward clothing business where we handle a lot of different fabrics and designs. The shop floor is usually a bit of a mess with scraps of thread and measuring tapes lying around. We don't really go for that high-end boutique look. Instead, we focus on getting the clothes made and out the door to the people who need them. The sewing machines make a steady humming sound that you get used to after a while. Khar East is a lively neighborhood, so there is always something going on right outside our window. We have a few tailors who have been with us for years, and they know exactly how to handle the trickier materials. Sometimes the colors don't look the same in the shop light as they do in the sun, so we end up taking bolts of fabric out to the sidewalk to show people. It’s just the way we do things here. We aren't big on meetings or long emails. We mostly just talk to each other and get the sewing done. The racks stay full, and we try to keep up with what people are asking for lately. It’s a small operation, but it keeps us on our toes. Most days are long, but seeing a finished dress or suit makes it feel like we did something useful. We keep a teapot in the corner and stay busy until the sun goes down.
