Kay Kay Embroideries Pvt. Ltd. is located at 446, Kewal Industrial Estate, on the 4th floor. The building is on S.B. Marg in Lower Parel. This area used to be full of mills, and our building still has that old industrial feel to it. To get to us, you usually have to wait for the big cargo lift, which moves slowly and shakes a bit, but it gets the job done. Once you’re on the 4th floor, you’ll hear the hum of the machines before you see our door. The space is filled with long tables, rolls of fabric, and hundreds of spools of thread in every color you can imagine. It’s a bright space because we need to see the details of the stitching. We don't have a fancy showroom. Visitors just walk right into the work area where everything is happening. There’s always a bit of lint in the air and the sound of people talking over the noise of the needles. We have windows that look out over the newer buildings in Lower Parel, which is a strange contrast to our old floor. We work long hours when there’s a big order, and we usually have a radio playing in the background to keep the energy up. It’s a busy, messy, productive place. We focus on the fabric and the thread, and we don't worry too much about having a polished office. It is about the work.
