We are based in Tower 1 of Runwal Greens, specifically in unit 1604 of the Oakwood Tower. Being up on the 16th floor gives us a bit of a view of Bhandup West, though we are usually too busy to look out the window much. The Mulund Goregaon Link Road is right down there, and the traffic is always moving. It’s a modern building compared to many other garment workshops in Mumbai, so the environment is a bit different. We have to follow all the building rules about when we can bring in goods and use the service lifts. Inside our unit, it’s all about Karina Garments. We have piles of clothes ready to be sorted and packed. It can get a little overwhelming when the inventory starts building up, but we manage. The air conditioning is a relief during the summer months, even if it makes a bit of a rattling noise sometimes. We spend a lot of our time on computers tracking the stock and making sure the orders are moving out on time. It feels a bit like a corporate office because of the tower, but once you step inside, you see the fabric and the labels and you know it’s a real garment business. We have a small pantry where we make coffee and sometimes share snacks during the late afternoon slump when everyone is starting to feel a little tired from all the counting.
