We are over at number 28 in the Suna Wala Industrial Estate. It is situated in Andheri East, which is a place that never really stays quiet. Our unit is part of a larger complex where many different businesses operate. It’s an older industrial estate, so the walls have some character and the floors are a bit uneven. We do our fashion work in the middle of all this. There is a lot of cutting and measuring going on throughout the day. We have several rows of machines and a big cutting table that takes up most of the main room. The windows are usually open to let some air in, though you mostly just get the sound of the street. We don’t have a lot of staff, just a core group that knows how to handle the equipment. Most of us have been doing this for a long time. We don’t bother with fancy titles. We just do whatever needs doing, whether it’s checking the inventory or packing up a finished order. It gets pretty hectic during the peak seasons, but we manage to stay on top of it. We usually grab some street food for lunch from the vendors outside the estate gates. It is a simple life centered around the work we do here in Andheri. We don’t try to be anything more than a solid place where clothes get made. We just keep our heads down and finish the work.
