Aksana Leggings

Working on Kalbadevi Road means you are always in the middle of a crowd. At Aksana Leggings, our day starts by navigating through the narrow lanes and the sea of people already out and about. We don’t have a complicated story; we just run the business from this busy area because it’s where everything happens in the textile world. The space we have is filled with different colors and sizes of leggings. We spend a lot of time checking the stitch quality and making sure the packs are ready for the morning dispatch. It gets quite loud outside with the honking and the shouting of the street vendors, but inside we just focus on the task at hand. The walls are a bit plain, and we have simple wooden tables where we do all the sorting. It’s not a corporate office with fancy furniture. We just have what we need to get the job done. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, and we just wait it out or work by the door where there is more light. People stop by to ask about prices or to pick up orders they placed a few days ago. We know the neighbors and the delivery guys by name. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t use any big words to describe what we do; we just supply leggings and keep the shop going every day.
