Forward Fashions

Forward Fashions is tucked away in the Shreeji Industrial Estate. We are at number 25, which is really close to the Jogeshwari East railway station. If you're coming by train, it’s just a short walk down Subhash Road. Being in an industrial estate means things are pretty functional. We don't have a big showroom or plush carpets. It’s mostly just sewing machines, cutting tables, and a lot of fabric. The noise of the trains passing by is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We started this because we knew a bit about making clothes and wanted a place of our own. Most of our day is spent checking patterns or making sure the tailors have what they need. It’s a busy environment and the air is usually full of lint. We aren't some big fashion house with designers in suits. We are just regular people making clothes that people can actually wear. Sometimes we run behind schedule when a machine breaks down or the electricity goes out, but we always manage to catch up. The estate is a tight-knit community in a way. We know the guys in the units next to us. It’s not the most glamorous place, but it works for us. We focus on the task at hand and try to get things out the door on time. Subhash Road is always moving, and so are we. We don't do anything special, we just keep sewing.
