Jill Collection

Jill Collection is tucked away on the second floor of Ishita Park, which is at 86 Adajan Road in the Fort area. Being on the second floor means we don’t get as much walk-in traffic as the shops on the ground level, but we have our regular people who know where to find us. The space is filled with racks and shelves, and sometimes it feels a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives. We don’t have fancy mannequins or professional lighting. We just use the overhead fluorescent lights and some big mirrors we leaned against the walls. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We spend a lot of time unfolding and refolding things, trying to keep some kind of order, though by Saturday evening it usually looks like a bit of a mess. Fort is a great place to be because of the history and all the different people walking by, even if parking is a total nightmare. We don't have a big corporate philosophy. We just like clothes and we like selling them to people who need something new to wear. If someone comes in, we just let them look around at their own pace. We aren't the type to hover or give a sales pitch. We just sit at the small desk by the door and wait if anyone needs help with a size or a price. It’s just a regular local shop doing its best.
