Javed General Stores

You can find Javed General Stores right in Colaba at Shop No 6 in the Mistry Chamber on Stan Road. It’s a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. Being in Colaba means we get all sorts of people walking through the door, from locals who live just around the corner to folks just passing through the area for the day. Mistry Chamber is an old building with a lot of history, and our shop has its own rhythm that we follow. We open up early to get things ready before the morning rush starts. The shelves are usually full, and sometimes it feels like we’re playing a game of Tetris trying to fit new stock in when the deliveries arrive. There’s not much room to move around, but we know where everything is kept. The fan on the ceiling hums all day, which helps when it gets really hot and humid outside. We talk to our customers about the weather or the news while we ring up their items. It’s the kind of place where you don’t need a fancy sign to know what we’re about. We’ve been here at this address for quite a while, and the neighborhood has changed a lot around us, but we stay pretty much the same. It’s a lot of work keeping the inventory straight and dealing with deliveries in the narrow street, but it’s what we do. It’s just a simple shop where we try to be helpful to whoever stops by to buy something.
