Jagdamba Trading Co

If you’ve ever been to Kalbadevi Road, you know how packed it gets. We are right in the middle of all that on Old Hanuman Lane. Our office for Jagdamba Trading Co is in Building 89-91, up on the first floor in rooms 13 and 14. It’s an old building, the kind with narrow stairs and lots of character, if you want to call it that. It gets very noisy with all the traders and carts moving around outside. We’ve been trading from here for a long time. The rooms are usually filled with ledgers and some samples of the goods we handle. It’s not a big corporate space with carpets or air conditioning. It’s a working office. We spend most of our time on the phone or talking to people who drop in from the market. Working here means coming down to this busy part of town where everyone is always trying to get somewhere. Sometimes the electricity goes out or the rains flood the lane, but we just keep the doors open and carry on. We handle a lot of different things, mostly just moving goods from one place to another. It’s a lot of paperwork and making sure the math is right at the end of the day. We don't have a big marketing team. It’s just us in these two rooms, trying to make a living in the heart of Mumbai's old trade hub. It's a crowded life but it's ours.
