Our shop is at G-2 in the Machinery House, right across from the Kala Ghoda statue. It’s a very old part of the city, and being in a building like Machinery House feels like being part of history. The walls are thick and the ceilings are high, though it can get a bit stuffy during the humid months. We’ve seen the area change so much over the years, with all the art galleries and cafes moving in, but we’re still here doing industrial work right in the middle of it all. People often walk past our ground floor windows without realizing what’s going on inside. We have various pieces of equipment taking up most of the floor space, leaving just enough room for us to walk around and do what needs doing. It’s a noisy business for such a cultural neighborhood, but the landlord doesn’t seem to mind as long as we keep things orderly. We don't have a big staff, so if the phone is ringing and we’re busy with a machine, it might take us a minute to get to it. We don’t really do anything fancy for the public; we just keep our heads down and focus on the machinery. It’s a strange feeling sometimes, stepping out of our greasy workshop right into the middle of a tourist area, but this has been our spot for a long time and we’re quite used to the contrast. It works for us.
