Independent Fashion Llp

Our spot is in Elphinstone West, or Prabhadevi as people call it now. We are tucked away in the Rohidas Rahivashi Sangh, which is near the Western Railway Chawl Compound. It's a very old part of Mumbai, and you can hear the trains passing by all day long. Independent Fashion Llp is run out of a ground floor unit here. It’s a very local vibe, with neighbors drying clothes outside and kids playing in the lanes. The space is small, but we make it work for everything we do. We’ve got cutting tables and sewing machines crammed in, and there is always the smell of machine oil and fabric dust in the air. It’s not the kind of place you’d find in a mall. It’s gritty and real. We deal with fashion, but not the high-end runway kind—just practical stuff people actually wear. Some days the humidity in the chawl is tough, and we just keep the door open to get a bit of a breeze. We know everyone on Baleshet Madurkar Marg. It’s a community, really. We spend our mornings checking the stitching and our afternoons packing things up to go out. We don’t have a website team or anything like that. If something breaks, we usually fix it ourselves. It's just a simple operation in a busy part of the city, and we’re okay with that.
