Haresh Agencies

We are over at 2/8-9 in the Koli Samaj Building in Sewree East. It’s one of those older buildings that has been around forever. You can smell the salt from the sea sometimes when the wind is right. Being in Sewree is a bit different from the rest of Mumbai; it has its own slow pace but the docks are right there, so there’s always heavy traffic with those big containers. Haresh Agencies is basically just a couple of rooms where we keep our records and talk to the people we do business with. The staircase is narrow and we’ve had the same furniture since we first opened up here. We don’t really see a point in changing things that aren’t broken. Most of our day is spent coordinating deliveries and making sure the paperwork is in order. It’s a lot of phone calls and ledger entries. We know the shopkeepers downstairs and the guys who deliver the mail by name. It’s a tight-knit spot. The building itself is sturdy, even if it looks a bit weathered from the outside. We like the location because it’s central for getting goods in and out of the city. There’s no fancy lobby or air conditioning that freezes you out. We just open the windows and let the air circulate. It’s a simple operation, really. We don’t try to be something we’re not. Just a local agency doing its bit every day from our corner of Sewree.
