Hakoba

You can find us over in Santa Cruz East, specifically in Anand Nagar. We are at a place called Akanksha, house number 53. Avinash M Shendge is the one usually handling things here. We are known as Hakoba, and we’ve been part of this Mumbai neighborhood for a good while. We deal with fabrics and embroidery, which is a lot of detailed work. If you walk into our space, you will probably see a lot of thread and cloth lying around. It is not a shiny mall shop; it is a real place where work gets done. Santa Cruz is always busy, and there is a lot of noise from the street, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We spend our time looking at patterns and making sure the quality is okay. It’s a lot of sitting and focusing on the small details. We don't have a big corporate office or a bunch of managers. It’s just a small team of us. Sometimes the power goes out or it gets too humid, but we just keep working through it. People come to us because they know we’ve been here and they know what we do. It’s a straightforward business. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just make sure the embroidery and the cloth are handled right. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. That’s how we have always done things.
