Haji Hasan Trading Co.

Haji Hasan Trading Co. is located in Anand Bhavan. If you come up to the second floor and look for room number seven, that’s where you’ll find us. We’re right in the New Chinch Bunder area, which is always packed with people and carts moving goods. Our room isn't very large, but it’s enough for what we do. We spend most of our time trading and keeping track of who owes what. It’s a lot of sitting and talking on the phone, interspersed with checking on deliveries. The building is old, and the stairs can be a bit of a climb if you're not used to it. We’ve been in this same room for years, and the walls are covered with old calendars and notes. It’s a simple operation. We don’t have any big corporate goals; we just want to make enough to keep the lights on and help our families. The neighborhood is noisy, especially with the docks and the markets nearby, but it feels like home to us. Sometimes the rain leaks a little through the window frame, but we just put a bucket down and keep working. We know most of the other traders in the building, and we often help each other out when things get busy. It’s a community of sorts. We’re not looking to change much about how we operate. We just take each day as it comes and hope the shipments are on time for the most part. It works for us.
