Gunny Gujarat

Our place is up on Hill Number 2 in Sheetal Nagar. If you know Ghatkopar West, you probably know the area near Jangleshwar Mandir. We’re right across from it. It’s a bit of a climb to get up here, but it's where we've stayed for years. Gunny Gujarat is basically just a local operation. We deal with gunny bags and materials like that, mostly for packing and transport. The space isn't very big, and it's often filled to the ceiling with stacks of jute. It smells like earth and old fabric in here, which I guess is just part of the job. Most of our day is spent moving heavy bundles around or talking to the guys who come to pick things up. Being in Asalpha means it’s always busy outside, with lots of people and noise. There isn't a receptionist or a fancy lobby here. If you walk in, you’ll probably just see someone counting stock or loading a truck. This is a practical business. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the shopkeepers on the road. The weather can be a bit tough in the monsoon, being on a hill, but we manage. Every day we just keep doing what we do. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to be anything we're not. We are just a small business in a busy part of Mumbai. The climb up the hill keeps us fit, if nothing else.
