Mars Embroideries

Mars Embroideries is up on the 3rd floor of the Tijoriwala Building. We’re right at the corner of Grant Road. Being on the third floor means a lot of stairs to climb, but it gives us a bit of a view of the busy street below. Our workspace is full of embroidery frames and colorful threads. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the different workstations and fabric rolls. We don't have a polished reception area or anything like that. It’s just a place where we do a lot of detailed needlework. Sometimes the lighting isn't perfect, so we have to move the tables around to catch the sun from the windows. We’ve been in this building for quite a while now. The elevators are old and sometimes don't work, so we end up walking up a lot. We do a lot of work for local designers and other shops. It’s meticulous work, and it takes a lot of patience to get the details right. We don't have a big sales team; people usually find us by word of mouth. Sometimes we’re working on very heavy wedding outfits, and other times it’s just simple patterns. It gets pretty hot under the roof in the summer, but we keep the fans going. We just focus on the patterns and making sure the stitches are tight. It’s a quiet kind of work in a loud part of town.
