Kings Hosiery

We are based at 17-20 Mallam Market on Grant Road Cross Line where we run Kings Hosiery. This part of Mumbai is always packed with people and the usual sounds of the city. We handle a lot of hosiery items, so the shop is often full of boxes and large bundles of socks and innerwear. It has a wholesale vibe mostly, but we talk to everyone who walks in off the street. The market is quite old and the stairs are a bit narrow, so moving goods in and out takes a lot of effort. We have two heavy fans going all day to keep the air moving inside. My father started this business and now we just keep it going as best as we can each day. There are piles of stock reaching almost to the ceiling in some of the corners. We know exactly where everything is even if it looks like a bit of a mess to someone else. The phone rings a lot with people asking about prices or if a new delivery has arrived yet. We sit on old wooden stools behind the main counter and drink tea while we wait for the next customer. The floor is old stone and has a few cracks here and there from years of use. It is a real market shop, not like one of those fancy mall stores. We do not bother with expensive displays. We just put the goods out and let people see them.
