Ms Yasmeen Garments

Our small shop, Ms Yasmeen Garments, is tucked away in Kamla Nagar, Baigan Wadi. We are right on the Dumping Road, which is a busy area, especially with the Bilali Masjid nearby. If you are looking for us, we are quite close to the dumping ground. It’s a lively neighborhood with people always walking around and kids playing in the lanes. Inside the shop, it’s mostly the sound of sewing machines running all day. We make all sorts of clothes, mainly focusing on basic daily wear that people around here need for their families. There are five of us working here right now. We sit at our stations and just keep sewing until the sun goes down. It gets quite dusty because of the road outside, so we have to clean the fabric often to keep things neat. We don't have any big signs or a shiny storefront. It’s just a simple room with our equipment and piles of cloth everywhere. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a lot of work to finish before a festival or a big order. The tea seller from around the corner usually stops by in the afternoon, which is a nice break for everyone. We know most of the neighbors and people who live in the surrounding houses. We aren’t a big factory or anything like that. We are just a local group making garments and trying to earn a living in this part of town.
