Uniforms Unltd. is tucked away at No. 36/39 in the Municipal Industrial Estate on Dainik Shivner Marg. Gandhi Nagar is a busy area, but once you get inside the estate, it’s mostly just the sound of machines and people moving boxes around. We’ve been here for a while now, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy with the actual work to worry about that. The fabric rolls take up most of the space anyway. We don't have a big reception area or anything like that, just a small space where we talk to people who come by. The lights hum a bit when they've been on all day, and there is always a bit of lint floating around in the air from the cutting tables. It’s a practical sort of place where we focus on getting the measurements right and making sure the stitching holds up. Gandhi Nagar gets a bit crowded in the evenings when everyone is leaving the industrial estate, so we try to get our deliveries out early. It's just us and a couple of sewing machines, really. Nothing too complicated or corporate about it. We sit on old wooden chairs and drink tea while we look over the orders for the next week. It's a lot of physical work, but it feels good to see the stacks of finished clothes ready to go out. We've got a small radio that mostly just plays the news, which keeps us company during the long shifts.
