Kyra is situated at No. 192 in the Gada Houze building on Sheikh Memon Street. If you’ve ever walked down this particular street, you know how packed and narrow it is. It’s one of those old parts of the city where the buildings are very tall and the lanes are cramped. We have our small space here among all the other shops. We deal with clothes and general fashion stuff. The building itself has that old-world feel, with heavy wooden doors and very narrow hallways that can be dark. It gets really crowded during the festival seasons, and sometimes it’s hard for us to even walk to our own entrance in the mornings. Inside, we try to keep things looking decent, but it’s a constant battle against the humidity and the dust from the crowd outside. We have a few mirrors and some metal racks, but nothing too over the top or expensive. Most of our neighbors have been in this building for decades. We spend our mornings checking the new arrivals and making sure everything is sorted correctly. It’s not a quiet place at all. You can always hear the porters carrying heavy loads and shouting to clear the way. Sometimes we just sit on our small stools and watch the world go by when things are a bit slow. We don’t have a website or anything like that, we just rely on people knowing we are in Gada Houze. It’s a practical way to run things.
