If you're looking for us, we're on the 2nd floor of 7 Annabelle Chs. Being right on 81 Sv Road in Santacruz West means it's never really quiet. You can hear the traffic from the road all day, but up here on the second floor, it's a little bit pushed back. Freedom Apparel is basically just two large rooms filled with clothes and sewing equipment. The elevator in this building is a bit temperamental, so we usually just end up taking the stairs, which is fine unless we’re carrying heavy rolls of cloth. The lighting inside isn't the best, so we’ve added a few extra lamps around the workstations so everyone can see what they’re doing. We don't really have a dress code or anything like that; we just show up and get to work. Most of us have been working together for a long time, so we don't need to talk much to know what needs to happen next. There’s a small pantry area in the back where the kettle is always on, and that's where we usually stand around for ten minutes to catch our breath. It’s not a polished showroom, just a place where things get made and shipped out. SV Road is always changing, with new shops opening and closing, but we’ve managed to stay put here for a good while now, just doing our thing day after day.
