You have to come to Dongri to find us. We are in the Jan Mohd Sale Mohd Building, which is number 44 on Sandhurst Road West. It’s an old building, very typical for this part of Mumbai. Our place is on the 2nd floor, Room No. 32. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, and they can be narrow if someone else is coming down at the same time. The air in Dongri is always full of different smells and the sounds of the street. Inside our room, it’s mostly just us and the machines or the stacks of clothes. Fatum Style is a small operation, and space is always tight. We have to be really careful how we stack things so we don’t run out of room to walk. The windows don’t open all the way, so it gets pretty warm in the afternoons. We use a couple of old fans that make a lot of noise, but they do the job. We’ve been in this building for quite some time now. You get used to the sounds of the neighbors and the busy traffic down on Sandhurst Road. It’s not a fancy office with a view, but it’s where we do our work. Most people who come here are used to the Dongri vibe. It’s a hardworking place and we fit right in with everyone else. We just take it one day at a time here and get through the pile.
