Everfresh Dry Fruits

Everfresh Dry Fruits is tucked into Shop No 4 of the Badiwala Building over in Malad East. It is not a very big space, but we manage to fit a lot in there. Every morning starts with opening the heavy shutters and moving some of the displays out so people can see what we have. We spend a lot of our day weighing out almonds, cashews, and raisins into plastic bags. The smell of the place is something you get used to, a mix of earthy walnuts and sweet dried figs. The Badiwala Building is an old landmark in this part of Malad, and being in Shop No 4 means we see everyone walking past on their way to work. We have these big glass jars lined up, and sometimes the lids are a bit sticky, but they keep everything inside fresh enough. It gets quite busy during the festival times when everyone wants to buy gifts, and the shop feels even smaller then. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that. Most people just know we are here because they have been passing by for years. The light inside is a bit dim because the building shadows the entrance, but we have some tube lights that keep things bright enough to see the scales. It is just a straightforward business, selling dry fruits and talking to the neighbors who stop by for a bit.
