Our business operates out of suite 310 in the Shyam Kamal B Building, which is right in the Agarwal Market in Vile Parle East. It’s a very active part of the city, so there’s always something happening outside the windows. We’ve been in this office for a long time. It’s a bit cramped with all the files and the samples we keep, but we make it work. Vile Parle is a good place for a business like ours because it's easy to get to, even if the traffic is sometimes a nightmare. We do international trade, so my day is mostly spent dealing with shipping agents and customs people. It involves a lot of waiting for emails and then rushing to get documents sent out. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. There’s just a handful of us here doing the daily tasks. The building itself is one of those older ones that has a lot of character, though the stairs can be a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up. We eat our lunch together most days and talk about what’s going on in the market downstairs. It’s a practical setup and we don't try to make it look like something it isn't. We just focus on making sure the goods get from point A to point B without too many delays. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know how to do best.
