Working out of Bombay Hospital is a busy life. If you’ve ever been to Marine Lines, you know how it is. Between the trains and the cars on Road No 12, there’s never a moment of real silence. My office is tucked in there, right next to the Liberty Cinema. It’s a landmark everyone knows, which makes it easy to explain where I am to anyone visiting. Dr M L Saraf is just the name on the door, but it’s a whole lot of work behind it. I spend most of my hours walking these halls or sitting with people who aren't feeling their best. The hospital is a maze, honestly. You see everything here—joy, worry, and a lot of waiting. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and the routine hasn't changed much over the years. I grab a quick bite when I can and then it’s back to the patients. The view of the city from here is alright, but I don’t get much time to look out the window. It’s a practical job. People come to me because they need help, and I do what I can with what we have. Marine Lines is always moving, and we just try to keep up with the pace. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s an important one for the people who walk through those hospital doors every morning. We just do what we can.
