Dipak Provision Stores

Dipak Provision Stores is right there in Khar West on Raghavendra Temple Road. We have shop number one and two, right on the corner of 5th Road near the BMC Market. It’s a busy spot. From the moment we open the shutters in the morning, there’s someone looking for milk, bread, or dal. The BMC market nearby means there’s always a crowd and plenty of noise. We have sacks of rice and grains lined up on the floor and shelves packed with soaps, biscuits, and everything else a house needs. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people come in at once. We know most of the people who come in by their first names or at least by what they usually buy. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving. During the festivals, the temple road gets really crowded, and we barely have room to move. We don't have fancy barcodes or scanners; we just know the prices and write them down in a notebook. Sometimes we run out of change, so we have to ask the neighbor shop for some. It’s a basic way of doing things, but it works for us and the neighborhood. We’ve been here long enough that the shop feels like a second home. The floor is worn down from all the footsteps over the years.
