Dilip General Stores

Dilip General Stores is right there in Mahatma Nagar in Dahisar East. It is the kind of neighborhood shop where you can find almost anything you need if you take the time to look through the shelves. We have got everything from snacks and soap to notebooks and buckets for the house. The shelves are packed really tight from the floor to the ceiling. Sometimes things fall off when you are trying to reach for a packet at the very back, but we just pick them up and keep going. It is a local store, so we know most of the people who come in by their first names. We see the kids coming home from school wanting a treat and the parents stopping by on their way back from the train station. The front door stays open most of the day to let a bit of a breeze in, even though it brings in quite a lot of dust from the road. We do not have a computer system or anything fancy for tracking what we sell. Most of our tallying is done with a simple pen and a thick notebook. It works well enough for us. The lights are a bit dim in the back corners, but we have lived here so long we know where every single item is kept. It is not a big supermarket, just a small corner shop trying to keep the essentials in stock for the families living around here.
