I Light Dresses

Our little place, I Light Dresses, is over in Dharavi, specifically at the Kalpataru Housing Society No. 526, C Wing. We are right by the Sion-Bandra Link Road, near Kala Kila. If you know this area, you know how packed and lively it is. Our shop is just one small part of this massive neighborhood. We spend most of our time at the sewing machines or cutting fabric on the big tables. It’s not a quiet place. You can always hear the traffic from the link road and people shouting outside. We make various types of dresses and clothes for the people around here. The space is a bit tight, so we have to be careful where we put the fabric rolls so nobody trips. We don't have a big fancy storefront. It’s more of a workspace where things actually get made. Sometimes our neighbors from the society pop in just to chat while we work. We don't use any high-tech systems to manage things. We just use old-fashioned notebooks to keep track of what needs to be done. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we keep the fans going and stay busy. It’s just a small, local operation trying to keep up with the daily demand for new outfits. We’ve been here for a while and we plan on staying put right here in the C Wing.
