Dhanalaxmi Cashew Exports

You can find us at 749/3, over in the Veraipada Pole area of Khadia. It’s an old part of the city, right off Gandhi Road, so the lanes are pretty narrow and hard to navigate if you aren’t used to them. We deal with cashews every single day. The smell of the raw nuts is something you never really lose once you step inside. We have several people sitting on the floor or at low tables, sorting through the cashews to pick out the ones that don't look right. It’s quiet work mostly, except for the sound of the nuts hitting the metal bins. The building itself is quite old and has these high ceilings that help a bit with the heat, but it still gets stuffy. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to open the windows and wait. Gandhi Road is always loud with horns and people selling things, so we usually have the radio playing to drown some of that out. We load up the exports into smaller vans because the big trucks can’t get down the pole easily. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying boxes up and down the steps. We don't really have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a workspace where the job gets done. My hands are usually a bit rough from handling the shells, but that’s just part of the deal here.
