Datta Krupa Provision General Store

If you live around Ramabai Colony in Chembur, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times. We are right on the 5th Cross, 4th Main, just opposite Amar Mitra Mandal. It’s a busy little corner of P L Lokhande Marg. The shop is full of everything from rice and lentils to soap and notebooks. We open early in the morning, usually before most people are even awake, to get the milk and bread deliveries sorted. It’s a small space, so we have to stack the crates and bags carefully so there’s room for people to stand. Throughout the day, we see the same faces—mothers picking up stuff for dinner or kids coming in for a quick snack after school. We know most of our regulars by name. It’s not a supermarket where you don’t talk to anyone. Here, we chat about the weather or the local news while weighing out the sugar. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit messy when a big shipment arrives, but we manage to get it all on the shelves eventually. Being a general store means there is never a quiet moment. If we aren't serving someone, we are checking expiry dates or cleaning the glass jars. It’s a lot of standing on your feet, but we like being part of the neighborhood. We’ve been here long enough that the shop feels like a second home to us. It is just the way we have always run the business for the family.
