D P General Stores

This is Shop No 1 over in J P Tiwari Chawl. You’ll find us on S Dahisar Husnabad Lane, right in the Husaini Chawl area. We’re directly opposite the River Park Building, so it’s a landmark most people around here know well. D P General Stores has been serving this little corner of Dahisar for quite some time now. The shop is small, packed with everything we can fit on the shelves. It gets a bit cramped when we have more than three people inside, but that’s just how these local spots are. We open early every morning to make sure the neighbors can get what they need before heading to work. My family helps out behind the counter. We know most of our customers by name because they’ve been coming here for years. The lane can get dusty and the rain sometimes makes things tricky, but we stay open regardless. We stock the basics—milk, bread, soap, and the small things you forget at the big supermarket. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just walk in. It’s a simple life running a store like this. You see the kids grow up and the neighborhood change around you. The River Park Building across the way is a lot newer than us, but we get along fine. We’re just here to keep the pantry shelves full for the folks in the chawl.
