D-Mart

This particular branch is located in the Anjaneya Cooperative Housing Society, right opposite the Hiranandani Foundation School on Orchard Avenue in Powai. It’s a very busy part of the neighborhood, especially when the school lets out in the afternoon or during the busy weekends. We are right on the ground level, so you can't really miss us if you are walking or driving down the main avenue. The day starts really early for us, usually well before the sun is fully up, so we can get the shelves stocked and everything ready for the first batch of shoppers to arrive. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving large carts around the aisles. The air conditioning is always on full blast, which is a big relief from the usual Mumbai humidity outside the doors. We have a lot of staff running around in their uniforms, just trying to keep the aisles clear and the checkout lines moving fast. It’s not exactly a quiet place to work at all, as there is always the sound of scanners beeping and people talking to each other. We don't really have a fancy office upstairs, just a small room where we take our lunch breaks and check the daily schedules. It feels very much like a part of the local community here in Powai since we see many of the same faces every week. We just focus on keeping things in order so people can find what they need without a lot of trouble. It's a simple job that keeps us all busy.
