D K Fashion is located at the Shah Damji compound in Borivali East, specifically in Gala numbers 1 through 5. Having several units together allows us to handle different parts of the work, from cutting the cloth to doing the final stitching and packing. It is a very busy place, and it gets quite noisy once all the sewing machines are running at the same time. We don't make the kind of clothes you see on television or in big magazines. We make simple, everyday wear that people can actually afford. Most of our workers have been with us for a long time and they know exactly what they are doing. The floors are often covered in bits of thread and fabric scraps, but that’s just how a working factory looks. We don't have a fancy office to show off to visitors. We spend our money on keeping our machines running and buying decent fabric. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to stop work, or a shipment of cloth arrives in the wrong color. These things happen, and we just deal with them. Borivali is a good area for us because it is easy to find skilled people and the transport links are okay. We just focus on getting our orders finished so they can get to the shops. It’s hard work and the hours are long, but we’re used to it.
