You can find our shop inside the Tardeo AC Market, which is a place most people in this part of Mumbai know fairly well. It’s one of those older shopping centers that has its own particular charm and smell. We’ve been here for a while, tucked away in our unit. The space isn't very large, so we have to be careful about how we stack the boxes and hang the garments. It often feels like we are playing a game of Tetris whenever a new delivery of fabric or clothes arrives. The air conditioning is always running, which is a relief from the heat outside, even if it gets a bit chilly towards the end of the day. We don't have any fancy window displays or big glowing signs. Most people who come to see us are either regulars or someone who happened to be walking through the market. Our desks are usually covered in loose threads and measuring tapes. It’s a bit messy, but that is just how we work. We spend a lot of time talking to the other shop owners nearby; it’s a small community in here. Sometimes we have to move things around just to make space for someone to stand and look at the samples. It’s not a corporate showroom with bright lights and mirrors everywhere. It’s just our little spot in Tardeo where we handle the fashion side of things and try to stay organized among all the fabric rolls.
