Choudhary Traders

We operate out of Shop No. 6 in the Gulab Shah Estate on LBS Marg. It’s right near the Kurla Bus Depot, so the sound of bus horns and engines is basically the soundtrack to our entire day. Kurla West is a crowded place and our shop is no different. We trade in various goods, mostly hardware and small items that people in the area need. The estate itself is a bit old and the walls have some cracks here and there. We keep the inventory stacked high because the shop isn't very large. Sometimes when it rains, the water collects a bit near the entrance and we have to sweep it out. I’ve been working here for several years now, and I know most of the people who pass by. We have a small wooden table where we do all the billing by hand. It’s not a high-tech operation. We just buy things and sell them. The tea guy comes by every two hours, which is the best part of the afternoon. Dealing with the traffic on LBS Marg is a headache if you’re trying to deliver anything, so we usually try to get our big shipments in the very early morning. It’s a tough spot but it’s home for the business. We don't bother with anything flashy; we just open the shutter and get to work.
