Shree Knitting Works

Our place is over in the Kailash Industrial Estate, unit 23. It is in Ganesh Nagar, part of the Chembur Camp area. If you know Mumbai, you know how busy these industrial estates can get. There is always the sound of machines humming in the background here at Shree Knitting Works. It is a bit noisy, but you get used to it after a few days. We have been working out of this space for quite some time. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy with the knitting to worry about that right now. We make sure the machines are running smooth and that the thread doesn't tangle up. It is honest work and it is hard work. We usually have lunch together in the small break area we set up in the corner. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when a big shipment of yarn arrives. We have to stack it carefully so we can still move around. Most of the people working here live nearby, so we are like a small community. We don't have any big corporate offices or anything. Just this workshop where we put in the hours every day. It is dusty and loud, but it is our place and we are proud of what we do without making a big deal out of it.
