Cash N Carry is right in the thick of things at Shop No 180/184 on Y M A Road. Being in Masjid Bunder West means it’s never quiet. There are carts and people everywhere, and the noise from the street never really stops until very late at night. We’re situated in the Shree Nagar part, which is close to Chandivali, and right next to Zakaria Masjid. You can hear the prayers from the mosque while we work, which is a constant part of our day. The shop itself is packed with items from floor to ceiling. There’s barely enough room to move some days when a new shipment arrives. It’s a bit of a squeeze, but that’s just how shops are in this part of Mumbai. We spend a lot of time just moving boxes around and talking to the regulars who come by. It’s not a polished showroom, just a place to buy what you need and go. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy to get around to it. The light in the back of the shop is a bit dim, so we mostly stay near the front where the breeze from the street comes in. It’s a hectic life on Y M A Road, but we’ve grown to like the energy of the market and the people who shop here.
