C M Exporters

Our spot is in the Musafirkhana Building right by Carnac Bridge-13, on L. T. Road. If you know Mumbai, you know how hectic this area gets. The building is quite old and has that specific smell of salt air and aged stone. C M Exporters operates out of a few rooms on one of the upper floors. We don’t have an elevator that works consistently, so we do a lot of climbing up and down. The office is packed with samples, shipping crates, and stacks of documents waiting to be stamped. It’s a bit of a maze inside. From our window, we can see the traffic crawling along L. T. Road and the tops of the containers near the docks. It’s a constant hum of engines and horns. We spend most of our time on the phone or running down to the customs office. There’s nothing glamorous about it. We use old fans that rattle when they’re on high, and the walls are covered in calendars from three years ago. We don't bother with fancy decor because we’re rarely sitting still long enough to look at it. Most of the day is spent coordinating with drivers and making sure the labels are right. It’s a bit chaotic, and sometimes things get misplaced in the shuffle, but we always find them eventually. It’s just the reality of exporting from a place as busy as this. Moving boxes and papers is what we do for our daily bread here.
