Fashioto

Fashioto is located in 702 Akshita Apartment. We’re right opposite Bhatia Wadi and near TPS Road in Borivali West. It’s a residential building, so it’s a bit different from a typical shop. We use the space to handle all our design work and the business side of things. Borivali West is always crowded and noisy, but once you get up to the 7th floor, it’s a bit quieter. We spend a lot of time here looking at samples and dealing with suppliers over the phone. It’s a small team, mostly just us and a couple of helpers. The apartment is filled with boxes and racks of clothes. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit because there’s so much stuff everywhere. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a while and like being close to the main market area. It’s convenient for getting materials. We don't have a big sign outside, just the name on the directory. It’s a more personal way of doing business, I think. We don't have a fancy store window to attract people. Most of our day is spent at the table, sketching or checking quality. It’s a lot of hours, and sometimes we’re here late into the night when a deadline is coming up. It’s just how it goes when you’re running a small fashion business in a place like Mumbai. The balcony gives us a bit of fresh air when things get too stuffy inside.
