Bombay Rayon Fashions

Bombay Rayon Fashions is situated on the first floor of the Oberoi Gardens Estate. It’s on Chandivali Farms Road, which is always a bit of a mess with traffic and construction. The estate is quite large, and it can be easy to get lost if you aren't looking for the right building entrance. Our office is fairly basic. We have a lot of desks pushed together and shelves full of sample books and rolls of cloth. It’s a bit of a maze of fabric swatches and paperwork. The air conditioning works most of the time, which is a relief in the Mumbai heat, though it makes a bit of a rattling noise. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at spreadsheets, but it’s all about the clothes in the end. Chandivali has changed a lot since we first moved here. There are so many new buildings and coffee shops now. We usually get our snacks from the little shop downstairs or the tea stall on the corner. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. We just work here and try to keep up with the daily tasks. The carpets are a little stained and the windows haven't been washed in a while, but it’s a good place to work. There’s always someone coming in or out with a bag of samples. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall; we just have a list of what needs doing before the weekend starts.
