Down here on Tembipada Road in Bhandup, we’ve been running Blue Circle Organics for a good many years. It’s an industrial part of Mumbai, so there’s always noise and trucks moving around outside. We make organic chemicals and intermediaries, which basically means we spend our time around vats and labs. It’s not the kind of work you can do without getting a bit of dust on your shoes. We have a small team here, and most of us have been together for a long time. We know the machines and we know how the batches should look. It’s a lot of checking temperatures and making sure the mixtures are right. We don't really do the whole corporate thing with big meetings. Most of our talking happens on the factory floor or in the small office upstairs. We just focus on getting the orders out to the people who need them. Sometimes the Mumbai rain makes things difficult, especially with transport, but we just keep the production going. It’s honest, hard work. We deal with suppliers and customers directly, no middleman stuff if we can avoid it. The building is old but it works for what we do. We aren't trying to change the world, we’re just making sure our products are consistent and that the work gets done every day like it’s supposed to be.
