Bkind Fashions Private Limited is tucked away in the JV Patel ITI Compound over on Balashet Madurkar Marg. If you know the Elphinstone area, or Prabhadevi as people call it now, you know it's a mix of old mills and new buildings. We are in the 4B-B section. It’s a real working-class kind of neighborhood. The railway station is pretty close, so you always hear the trains in the background. We’ve been at this address for some time. It's not a place where you'll find marble floors. It’s more about concrete walls and a lot of fabric lying around. We spend our days dealing with orders and checking on the quality of what we make. Sometimes the rains make the compound a bit messy, but we manage. Most of the staff comes from nearby areas, so there’s a local feel to how we operate. We don’t have a PR team or anyone to write glossy brochures for us. We just handle the fashion business the best way we know how. It’s a lot of manual work and long hours, especially when things get busy. But the chai stall right outside the compound makes the best tea, which helps get us through the afternoons. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to run a decent business and keep everything moving along. It is a bit dusty sometimes but it is our home.
