You can find us at 510 D. S. Trade Centre, which is right by the Vidyavihar Station on the west side. Being so close to the station means we hear the trains going by all day long. The Trade Centre is a busy building with a lot of different offices and businesses, so there’s always people in the elevators and the hallways. Our office is on the fifth floor. It’s mostly just desks, computers, and samples of what we export. We spend a lot of time on the phone or responding to messages. Since we are near the station, it’s easy for us to commute, but the area gets very congested during the morning and evening rush. We usually have boxes stacked up near the door waiting to be picked up by the courier. It’s not the most glamorous office, just a practical space where we can get the paperwork done and check the quality of the goods. Sometimes we go down to the local stalls for a quick snack or a tea when things get too hectic upstairs. The building management is okay, though the elevators break down sometimes, and then we have to use the stairs. It keeps us moving, I guess. We focus on getting the orders out on time and making sure the documents are correct. It’s a lot of back-and-forth with different agencies, but that is just the nature of the export business in a place like Mumbai.
