Bhagwandas Bherumal & Co.

Bhagwandas Bherumal & Co. is tucked away in the Sitaram Building, specifically at 26/27-F on the second floor. We are right on Crawford Market Road, which is one of the busiest spots you can imagine. The post office, GPO, is close by, so we are always running back and forth with mail. The building itself is quite old and has that specific smell of old wood and paper. Getting up to the second floor can be a bit of a squeeze when the hallways are full of boxes and people. We have a lot of history in this room. The walls are covered with old calendars and notes we’ve stuck up over the years. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we’ve stayed in this same spot while the city changed around us. It’s mostly trade work we do here. The noise from the market outside never really stops, but we don't mind it anymore. Sometimes it gets a bit dark in the office, so we have to keep the lights on even during the day. We deal with a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for decades. We don't use much technology, just the basics to keep the records straight. It’s a bit cramped with all the furniture, but it works for us. We just focus on the daily tasks and making sure the orders are filled correctly. It’s honest, steady work in a very old part of town. Most days we just have tea and wait for the next delivery.
