Ayub Usman Ansari

I'm located in Goregaon East at Plot No 501 in the Ankur Co-operative building. It is a typical Mumbai setup where space is tight but we make it work. As Ayub Usman Ansari, I’ve been operating out of this room for a long while. The building is older, but it is solid and everyone knows everyone else. You have to go through the main gate and find your way up. It’s not the kind of place with a big lobby or elevators that talk to you. I have my desk and my files and that is about it. Most of my day is spent on the phone or talking to people who come by the plot. Goregaon East is a fast-moving area, so there is always something happening outside. Inside the office, I try to keep things a bit more orderly. I handle a lot of different tasks depending on what is needed that day. It is a one-man show mostly, so I do everything from the paperwork to cleaning the floor. I don't have a big staff or a marketing department. If you need something, you just come and ask me directly. It’s a very direct way of working. I like the neighborhood because everything I need is close by. The Ankur Co-operative has been a good base for me. I just keep doing my work quietly and honestly without making a big scene about it.
