We are located on the second floor of the Akhalwala building, right in the middle of Kalbadevi. If you know Mumbai, you know how crowded Dr. C.H. Lane gets. It’s a very old area, and there is a lot of history in these buildings. Our plot is 238, and we’ve been here long enough to know all the tea sellers on the corner. The stairs up to the second floor are a bit narrow, so carrying rolls of fabric up can be a bit of a workout. We focus on fashion, mostly just the daily grind of seeing what’s coming in and making sure everything looks right. It’s noisy outside with the handcarts and the honking, but inside we just get on with it. The room is usually filled with samples and racks. Being in Kalbadevi means we are right in the heart of the textile market, so if we need anything, it’s usually just a short walk away. That’s the best part about this location. It’s a bit dusty and the building shows its age, but it’s got character. We don’t have a big reception area or anything. People just walk in and we talk business over the noise. It’s a busy life but it’s what we know. We’ve been part of this neighborhood's fabric for a while now. Some days are more chaotic than others, but we just keep the samples moving and stay busy.
