Atul Stores

Atul Stores is right here at Shop No 2 in the Laxmi Darshan building. If you know the Bajaj area in Vile Parle West, you know how busy it gets around here with everyone rushing to the station or the market. We open up the shutters early and usually stay until the evening when the street lights come on. The shop isn't very big, but we try to keep things where they belong on the shelves. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when the delivery trucks come by to drop off boxes or when everyone finishes their work and stops in all at once. The shelves are mostly full of the stuff people ask for every day, like snacks and household bits. We've been at this spot for a long while now. The building is an older one, and you can tell by the way the walls look, but it works fine for us. Usually, it's just one or two of us behind the counter. Most people who come in live in the flats nearby or go to the colleges around here. It gets very loud with the traffic outside on the main road, but you get used to it after a few years. We don't have much of a fancy setup or bright lights like the big malls. It’s just a regular counter and some old fans to keep the air moving when the heat gets bad. We spend a lot of time just restocking and checking what’s left in the back room. Sometimes the door sticks a bit when it rains, but we keep it open most of the day.
