It’s another morning here at Asian House on Ramkrishna Mandir Road. If you know Andheri East, you know how the traffic gets around J.B. Nagar. We’ve been operating out of this building for quite a while now. The name on the door says Asian Chemical Works (Bmbay) Pvt. Ltd., and yes, that’s how it’s written. It’s not a flashy place with glass walls and fancy carpets. We have desks that have seen better days and files stacked up in the corners. Most of the guys here have been with us for years, so we all know how things run without needing to say much. The street outside is always noisy with rickshaws and delivery vans honking at each other. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, but we just carry on. We handle chemicals, so there’s always that specific smell in the air that you get used to after a week. It’s a steady kind of life. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to get the orders filled and the paperwork signed before the sun goes down. Most days, we just have tea from the stall around the corner and talk about the cricket scores while waiting for the next truck to arrive. It’s practical work. Nothing more, nothing less. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, but our building stays pretty much the same. It’s home for us during the day.
